City of Sin, City of Comics

JH3. Me. Detective Comics #854. Comic Oasis and Alternate Reality comics.
And just for added emphasis, JH3.
Really, the only thing that could make this better would be if Cully could make it, too. Which he can't. And that makes me sad.
So I will share Cully art with you. Not now, because, y'know, I don't have any with me, but soon. I promise.
It'll be worth it.

Stewart and Williams' collective art was just killer! I had actually stopped by the Gaijin office last week to say hi to Laura and Cully had locked himself up in his studio, slaving away. The Question feature was on-par with the rest of the book. I actually covered the book for our Best Shots column over at newsarama.
One complaint: Now the thing is, you had an older guy with Kate being her microchip/Oracle. Was that supposed to be her father? You also had an older guy working with Renee as HER Oracle/microchip. Was that Aristotle? It wasn't clear to me when I wrote the review and it seemed sort of repetitive, especially since it was in the same book. Can you shed some light on those for me?
thanks!
Kate's father, Jacob, fulfills a very specific role, which you'll see more of in the coming issues. He's not her Oracle -- there's no hacking there, nothing like that. He's simply reviewing the audio taken by the suit. That's a mission debrief, and I don't think of it as straying into Barbara Gordon territory. Under no circumstances will you ever see him hacking anything.
Tot, on the other hand, is a well-established genius, and, as Denny O'Neil wrote him, comfortable with technology. Given that we established he was facilitating Charlie's investigations back in 52, I don't think we're over-reaching.
That said, I see exactly what you're responding to, and trust me, it was entirely unintentional.
By the way, I'm sorry for the bigots on the site. I think you're going to take Kate where she's never been before and love it.
Needless to say, I'm so gay for this book.
Glad you're liking it. I truly think it gets better with each issue.

I haven't gotten my hands on Detective Comics #854 yet and with all the raving I've been hearing about it, it's just killing me. Hopefully I'll get a copy soon.
Hope you like it when you finally get to read it!
I'm sure I will, everyone is really going on about the art and it is indeed impressive. From what I've seen I'm just stunned that artwork for comics has reached such a level. Mostly thouh I'm looking forward to the story, thus far I have yet to dislike anything you've written.
Though a question, if it's alright, how do you manage to land so many great artists for the stuff you write?
I have been astoundingly fortunate.
when talking to Hughes a while back I asked if he had used any old magician's had inspired him for those Catwoman covers, namely Kellar.
Yeah. I know my 19th century magicians. Kellar was the biggest influence on his covers. Good times.
I'm glad it's getting a reprint, I'd hate to have missed it. I hope it's available when I go.
On the other hand, "Fah!!"
Call me when you get to DC Metro or B-more and otherwise stop torturing me.
Also, I notice the Ask the Question site is down. Did Tot spill coffee on the servers or something? ;)
